My children’s classes are ballet, tap and jazz, seven of them a week, at $120 MXN. I set that below the adult price on purpose, so local families can actually come to me rather than watch the place fill with visitors.
Message before the first one
Amy, who teaches tap and jazz, takes preregistration only. Her WhatsApp number is on the children’s classes page and turning up on the day will not work.
Ballet with Sofia sits on the ordinary timetable, but it is still worth a message first if it is a child’s first time, for the same reason it is worth it for an adult: whoever is teaching would rather know.
Ask about the age before anything else
Ask which class suits your child’s age. It is the first question and the site does not answer it, so ask it directly and get a real answer rather than guessing from a timetable.
If the honest answer is that your child is a bit young for the class you had in mind, that is worth hearing before you have bought shoes.
About the shoes
Ballet, tap and jazz all want something different on the feet. Ask what is needed before buying anything, because the wrong pair is both an expense and a disappointment on the day.
For a first class, something a child can move in is generally enough to find out whether they like it.
What it is actually for
At this age it is coordination, rhythm, and being in a room with other children doing something difficult on purpose. Whether it turns into ballet or into nothing at all is not what I am after in the first term.
